Marble Moutains is a complex of 6 mountains growing close to each other, gathering all the beauties from nature and spirituality, giving you a journey to visit and explore wonderful landscapes.

It is a natural masterpiece bestowed on the land of Da Nang. With the harmonious beauty of the ecological area and the spiritual and cultural life, this destination attracts a lot of visitors from all over the world. Situated 8 kilometers southeast of the city center, Marble Mountains is a cluster of five limestone peaks in Vietnam. Located on the route of Hue Imperial Citadel – Marble Mountains – Hoi An Ancient Town – My Son Sanctuary.

The complex of Ngu Hanh Son scenic spots includes 6 limestone mountains: Tho Son (earth), Hoa Son (fire mountain) (including Duong Hoa Son and Am Hoa Son), Thuy Son (water mountain) – The biggest mountain and the most beautiful scenery, Moc Son (wood mountain), and Kim Son (metal mountain). In addition, this place also has beautiful scenery and many mysterious caves such as Huyen Khong cave, Huyen Vi cave, Van Thong cave, etc. On March 22, 1990, this scenic area was recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a National Historical and Cultural Relic.

Ngu Hanh Son

According to Cham legend, one day a dragon flew to Non-Nuoc beach and laid an egg there. After a long time, the egg hatched and a beautiful girl stepped out of the egg. The eggshell was broken into 5 pieces that became the five magical mountains today.

In 1825, emperor Minh Mang named this mountain complex Marble Mountains, which means “Ngu Hanh Son” in Vietnamese. Each mountain was named after one of the five elements of Eastern philosophy: metal, water, fire, wood, and earth. These names remain unchanged until now, and Marble Mountains have become a natural attraction with many majestic peaks, caves, and temples.

Explore Marble Mountain:

Thuy Son (Water Mountain): The biggest mountain and many beautiful scenes are worth visiting. It is called Tam Thai mountain because there are 3 peaks located on three floors like three Tam Thai stars This is a destination steeped in spirituality, culture, and history. Reaching the top of Thuy Son, you will be overwhelmed by the unique natural scenery of the entire Marble Mountains, the image of the city in the distance, and the beautiful and poetic beaches surrounding it.

Kim Son (Metal Mountain) – Home to the famous Quan The Am Pagoda: Kim Son mountain has a cave more than 50m long-hidden at the bottom. Inside the cave are very beautiful stalactites, diverse shapes, and clear and sharp lines. In particular, the stalactite layer in the cave clings to the cliff to form a life-size statue of Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara. Kim Son is also famous for the traditional Avalokitesvara festival held every year, to maintain and spread Buddhist culture.

Moc Son (Wood Mountain): Home to a special human-shaped Co Mu Stone: Wood Mountain has a white marble block with the shape of a sitting person, the stone block is often called Ba Quan Am or Co Mu by local people. This is the only mountain in Ngu Hanh Son that has no temples or spirituality, and very few trees.

Linh Ung Pagoda: Situated on the eastern side of Water Mountain, Linh Ung Pagoda is an unmissable destination when visiting the Marble Mountains. With a history of more than 200 years, the pagoda attracts a lot of visitors who worship Buddha or want to ease their minds in the tranquility of a spiritual site.
The most prominent features of Linh Ung Pagoda are the 10-meter tall Buddha statue and Xa Loi Tower. Xa Loi Tower, which was built in 1997, is 28 meters tall, has 7 floors,s has d 200 Buddha, Bodhisattva and Arhat statues inside. It has the largest number of stone statues in Vietnam.

Opposite Thuy Son mountain is Hoa Son mountain ( Fire Mountain) consisting of 2 double mountains and a connecting stone line. At the top of Duong Hoa Son, there are caves and Pho Son Da pagoda, while the top of Am Hoa Son owns a high mountain peak and steep rocky slopes with alternating trees, looking extremely majestic and pristine.

Tho Son (Earth Mountain): The Son is impressed by the cliffs. This place has very few trees, located in the North of Ngu Hanh Son. To the east of Tho Son, there is a cave about 20m deep, but the entrance is very narrow. In addition, there is Bo De cave, known by another name “Da Chong Mountain Tunnel”. As a historical relic, used to be the hiding place and activities of the revolutionary soldiers in the past.

Huyen Khong Cave: Huyen Khong Cave is one of the most magnificent and largest caves in Marble Mountains. Due to its open and unique structure, the sunlight shines from the top of the cave on the Buddha statue, creating a spectacular scenery. There are two small temples outside the cave: Chua Tien temple and Thuong Ngan temple where visitors come to pray for health and wealth. During the wars, Huyen Khong Cave was used as a secret base for local revolutionary officers to plan military strategies and later became a field hospital to treat injured soldiers. Therefore, the cave is famous for its great historical values.

Am Phu Cave: Being one of the largest caves in Marble Mountains, Am Phu Cave is the exact opposite of Huyen Khong Cave. “Am Phu” means “Hell”. In front of the cave, there is a bridge of Yin and Yang, and the road inside the cave is divided into two directions: Heaven and Hell. Am Phu cave has 12 prison gates. Tam Thai Pagoda: Located on Water Mountain and surrounded by poetic nature, Tam Thai Pagoda is an ancient pagoda built in the 17th century under the Le Dynasty. Its entrance is a 3-door gate, and according to Buddhism, the middle gate is only for monks while the left one is for men and the right one is for women. The pagoda has gone through many renovations throughout its history. Tam Thai Pagoda is recognized as a National Historical – Cultural Heritage Site and has become a spiritual destination for Buddhists.
